Believing that 2+2=4, even when everyone else tells you it's 22, _is_ ideology. Really, at the end of the day, all I know in life is how to program computers. And the computer program either returns correct results when you run it or it doesn't, no matter how many tears you shed. And if your math is wrong, the building collapses, and everyone inside dies. So, if you want to believe that 2 + 2 is 22, then that's OK with me, as long as you're not designing any buildings, or aircraft, or anything that has edges that can kill people. Interestingly, in Python, "2" + "2" is literally "22". 2 + 2 is 4. If you want to program in Python, you have to understand the difference, and that both answers are equally valid depending on the data type of the operands. The teacher should have said, "if you're concatenating character string literals, then '2' + '2' is '22'. But if you're adding integers, 2 + 2 is 4." That would have been the _correct_ answer.

That may be true, but I don't see the left trying to ban books or giving parents legislative overreach into school curriculum. Let teachers and educational institutions teach. They've literally been studying how to do this right their whole lives. Most politicians and parents don't know how to educate at the level needed for future generations. Parents need to take an active collaborative role, but not to the point of bullying schools into submission.
